HAPPY HOUR! Morfar Ginko

Hello and Happy Friday, everyone! Today is absolutely a happy Friday over here in Stockholm and I’m hoping to get outside to enjoy some fresh air before that sun goes down. The days are definitely shortening and I know that once we change those clocks back that I’ll be missing that sunshine! I’ve had a good and productive week this week and finally feel like I’m making some progress on the job front (and with my super cool kitchen table project!). There’s lots to look forward to and as promised I’ve got some inspiration for you on this crisp fall evening.

Last Friday I went to Morfar Ginko with my friend, Bonnie, who happens to always be feeding me new bars and cafes to check out (thanks, Bon!). Morfar Ginko, literally translated to Grandfather Ginko, was the perfect cozy Friday night bar to meet up with friends… and enjoy some moules frites, if that suits your fancy! This local Söder hangout, with its dim lighting, exposed concrete walls, light up signs and abundance of candles, was packed with people and an awesome playlist to boot (including both Will Smith and the Temptations, YES).

I loved the simple and almost haphazard decor, which made it feel a bit like visiting someone’s home. Maybe Morfar Ginko, perhaps?! It was both intimate and upbeat as well as deceivingly large with rooms connecting to one another. Again, like a home! I also spotted colored string lights on their back deck, which I will definitely be coming back to enjoy next summer. I’m such a sucker for fun lights.

So here it is. Wishing you all a cozy Friday with the company of good friends. Skål!
